US BUSINESS NEWS / Q4 2018 5 NEWS , Boeing [NYSE: BA] corporate giving will exceed $230 million in 2018, driven by $55 million in new charitable grants, as well as increases in business and em- ployee contributions. The new $55 million charitable grants package will support 443 non-profit organizations in 47 countries, funding programs through 2019 and beyond. Included in the package is $13 million for veterans’ recovery and rehabilitation programs and workforce transition services — representing an increase in charitable giving of more than 70 percent over 2017. Also included is a $1.1 million investment in the National Archives Foundation to under- write the annual display of the Emancipation Proclamation. The ten-year commitment will also fund education programs related to the history of the Proclamation and efforts to preserve the impor- tant historical document for future generations. Boeing’s corporate giving is am- plified by its employee gift match programs. Earlier this year, the company increased gift match levels following the enactment of U.S. tax reform. He previously was President of cloud service provider Akamai and served as Co-Managing Partner at Publicis’ VivaKi. He also co-founded and served as Chair- man and CEO of digital marketing agency Digitas continuing to lead the company after overseeing its sale to Publicis Groupe. Prior to Digitas, he was a Partner at Bain & Company. Kenny succeeds Mitch Barns who, as previously announced, is retiring from the company on December 31 after 22 years. Boeing also will support several international non-profits, includ- ing the Nettur Technical Training Foundation, which encourages disadvantaged youth and young adults to pursue aviation mainte- nance careers in India; The Air League, which provides aviation and flight school scholarships for wounded veterans in the United Kingdom; and OISCA Interna- tional, which assists with coastal forest restoration efforts in the Tohoku region of Japan. David Kenny Named Nielsen CEO The Board of Directors of NielsenHoldings plc (NYSE: NLSN) today announced that David Kenny will join the company as Chief Executive Officer effective December 3, 2018. David will also joinNielsen’s Board of Directors. David joins Nielsen from IBM, where he led IBM’s Cognitive Solutions business.
