In addition to running StepStone’s Lima office, Ms. Bolton will lead the Firm’s business development activities in the Andean region. “It’s an exciting time for institutional investors in South America to be investing in private markets. Regulatory changes combined with deeper investor knowledge have caused a dramatic rise in appetite for alternative investments over the past few years. StepStone is the ideal partner for groups looking to increase their allocation to alternatives, and our local presence will allow us to better help clients build diversified exposure across private equity, private debt, real estate and infrastructure,” said Ms. Bolton. “We are delighted to welcome Shannon to the team. Her knowledge of local markets, professional network, and dedication to her craft are a natural fit for our high-touch approach to client service,” added Bruna Riotto, a principal in StepStone’s São Paulo office. “Local investors have increased their exposure to global private markets since we opened our first office in Latin America in 2014. Adding someone with Shannon’s skills will help Andean investors broaden their access to high quality investment opportunities abroad and capitalize on all the expertise and breadth of StepStone’s global platform.” Ms. Bolton, a 10-year veteran of the industry in Latin America, joins StepStone from Capital Strategies Partners, where she led the placement agent’s efforts in the Andean Region. Before that, she spent over five years at LarrainVial SA, Chile’s largest investment bank, where she focused on institutional sales. Ms. Bolton received a BS in business in administration from Boston University’s Carroll School of Management.
